Rationale

The tree ‘gives’, while the boy ‘takes’. The boy evolves into a teenager, a middle-aged man, and finally an elderly man. Even though the boy ages in the story, the tree addresses the boy as a ‘boy’ his entire life.

Therefore, a bright pink colour is used to show the positivity of the tree while the background serves as a contrast in colour.
